[00:00:19] Speaker A: Hello and welcome to Interrogation, where guidance will always find you when you need it. I will be your guide today, Dusty, and use they he pronouns. And today I'm joined by, if you heard my work, another familiar voice. Aubrey. Aubrey, why don't you introduce yourself? [00:00:38] Speaker B: Oh, I'm. Yeah, I'm Aubrey. If you do work, listen to a lot of things that Dusty said. You probably hear my voice and quite a few of them. The GM for Goblins and Gays Sawyer, and bring your own Mac and various other projects. Find me everywhere on the Internet at Mad Queen Cosplay or the Mad Queen, depending on the website you're at. [00:01:03] Speaker A: Yeah. And you're usually in the GM seat. And this is not necessarily like, you know, a ttrpg, but we're getting some elements of it. But I do want to ask what oc. Our original character, are we going to be talking to today? [00:01:27] Speaker B: You will be talking to Rowan Walsh, the Prince of San Francisco. It's a vampire character. [00:01:37] Speaker A: Now, I, Dusty, just from talking to you and being in Discord Channels together, know a little bit about them and about how the prince means a little bit more than some may think. But tell us a little bit about them. Tell us how what their own personal, like, journey has been. [00:02:00] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, Ruin said a bit of a messy journey. She. She was actually embraced by her biological mother. And it's a really long story that she didn't learn about, like, two quarters through the chronicle that her mother had been turned about a year or so after she was born. And so then she used to doubt a lot of her own memories from childhood. And it was like, how much was I just a childhood Etch A Sketch every time I learned something I shouldn't. But, you know, she was turned and was a thin blood and had to hide that she was. And she was sent down to San Francisco to kind of pretend to be her sire's clan, the Ventrue, and sort of help them build back a foothold in the area. And through that, she met her coterie. She fell in love with the toreador through a very messy situationship and eventually uncovered the. The. The other prince, the original prince's plans to awaken an elder, very powerful vampire. And eventually, through. [00:03:24] Speaker A: A. [00:03:24] Speaker B: A lot of chaos and a lot of just really good luck, managed to kill the prince and usurp his seat while losing almost everybody she cared about in the process. [00:03:39] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Roman Rowan has been through it. It sounds like there could be a lot of reasons that they would be seeking ricardomancer right now. [00:03:51] Speaker B: Yeah. New prince. Very Untested, only been a vampire for a couple of years, and now has people kind of waiting for her to fail. [00:04:03] Speaker A: Yeah. So it sounds like. I don't know if there would be a good answer for this, but for Rowan, what is one thing that they do know is actually true? [00:04:23] Speaker B: One thing that they know is actually true is that there are currently in her court, there is literally only one person she can trust, and that is her ghoul. [00:04:38] Speaker A: How long have they known the school? [00:04:40] Speaker B: She's actually known the school the majority of her life. It was her mother's head of security. Her mother owned a. Like a security company, so was the CEO of it. And this ghoul was initially her mother's and was essentially had been assigned to protect her since she was a child and eventually kind of inherited him. [00:05:03] Speaker A: I have one more thing before maybe going to this reading, and you may have hinted at this, and the answer may be apparent, but is the person who hurt her the most still around? [00:05:19] Speaker B: Yes, her mother is still around. There was. In the end, she learned she was turned to spite her mother's sire. So that because her mother. Sire originally turned. Planned to turn her once she got of age and, you know, finished college and essentially have her replace her mother because, you know, people would start realizing that her mother wasn't aggressive. [00:05:56] Speaker A: How. How does. What's. What's their situation now? [00:06:04] Speaker B: Their situation now is her mother was on the other side of an attempted coup in the city of a bunch of people who were trying to take down the prince before Rowan did. And it's kind of, as far as Rowan is aware, her mother has left the city for Portland, I believe. [00:06:29] Speaker A: Let's see. Well, it sounds like guidance may be helpful for her. Right? [00:06:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:39] Speaker A: So, yeah. Why don't we start to head into the reading. We're going to do this in character. And so I will have you, as Roland, kind of set the scene. Get an idea, like, where are they assumedly in San Francisco, and where do they happen to find this person? Hello. Hi. Hello. Welcome to the mid ish role. It's not quite the mid roll if you look at the play time. However, I don't want to bump this into the middle of us having the scene together. So it's coming here. Hi. You're gonna enjoy this one with Aubry, maybe. I mean, Aubrey's great, obviously. Like. No, the character is great. The reading is. You'll see. You'll see, you'll see. Just keep listening. It's gonna be fine. It's gonna be great. But, like, Aubry And I mentioned you may have heard that we're on a show together. What is it? Tyrant of the Dark Star, from Goblets and Gaze. You know, it'll be fun if there was a trailer. There is a trailer for it. Why don't you take a listen? [00:07:48] Speaker B: It was nearly 100 years ago when the tyrant arrived and plunged the world of Noxite into an eternal eclipse. Chaos and monsters from another world threatened to overrun the lands, but people banded together and survived, all with the hope of maybe seeing the sun again. In the city of Malakhot, a group finds themselves thrown together by fate. For once in their lives, they might have a real chance to make a difference. They will have to learn to work and trust each other to survive. A tall order for some more than others. First, they must escape. Scald Iron Prison. Out into the city beset by Ghoul Fever. No one ever said this was easy. Featuring Aki as Gravewing the Monk. [00:08:31] Speaker A: Let's just say they're smart to cuff me. Do you complain often? [00:08:38] Speaker B: Alyssa as Laith Idrisi the Rogue. [00:08:42] Speaker A: What an interesting place for a reunion. [00:08:46] Speaker B: I'm surprised that they sent you to. [00:08:49] Speaker A: Prison instead of just killing you there. Honestly. [00:08:52] Speaker B: Dusty as Irido the Blood Hunter no. [00:08:56] Speaker A: You don't need to talk to everyone that comes in. Oh, sorry, are you. Are you a criminal? [00:09:00] Speaker B: Faris as Alouette Valaire, the Thaumaturge. What else are we going to do? Here we are in a prison cell. I am being polite. Spylock as Alistair Whiskerfield, the investigator These people, they're. They're. They're working with them. I heard. I heard you were. Weren't you eating a corpse the other day? Tick out as Niall the Sorcerer. But they just kind of come in. [00:09:31] Speaker A: Look at you two, and decide that they really don't want to get involved with criminals at this point. [00:09:34] Speaker B: So just go sit in the corner, Niall, in the back of your head, you hear? Oh, God, I'm so hungry. Eat them, please. And Aubrey as the GM and then the guard before they leave says, enjoy your last night. And if I'm not mistaken, last night means that they plan to kill us tomorrow. Join us every Wednesday for a new episode of Tyrant of the Dark Star. And don't let the light die. [00:10:17] Speaker A: So another fun fact. New new trailer out. All that good stuff, season two. But at the time of listening to this, which is going to be November 14th, new episode starts next week, season two. So that's gonna be exciting. You're gonna hear all of our characters. So glad to like Hear our purples again. I miss Yudo last name. You'll find out the last name maybe other thing I know on the post social medias and in our discord which if you want goblets and gaze has a discord, there's a channel to talk about interrogation. I'm very active in there as I'm. You know, it's our discord. I mentioned that there was going to be a double feature this week. However, to coincide with the release of season two. It's actually going to air on Monday of next week because here's a little teaser for you. Next week's guest is actually Ferris, one of the other players, and you'll be able to hear the lovely Alouette, which is also another very fun episode for interrogation. But enjoy the rest of this episode. You'll hear more stuff and get ready for Tyrant Season 2. [00:11:35] Speaker B: Yeah, it's been a rough several months for Rowan, and having life in the court is a little bit more perilous than she ever initially guessed, even for a vampire. But so eventually, it's really not hard to find Tarot readers in San Francisco. There are quite a few. So it's figuring out which one of those do late night hours before paying them a visit. Rowan is a woman in her getting close to mid-20s, like 23, 24 when she was turned. She has the sort of straight red hair that's currently pulled back into a bun. She's wearing designer clothes, but the designer clothes that are meant to look casual, these, all of these cost so much money and if you know about them, you would understand. But in the end, she just wants to appear normal, despite her wardrobe itself costing more than most people's rent. And. But the one thing she does have on top of that that is it stands out. It's a beaten up leather jacket covered in patches and pins. It's a little too big for her, but it's one of those things that she can't ever bring herself to get rid of. And she sort of holds it close around herself as she goes up to the shop and opens the door, sort of looking in to see if someone's in there. Yeah. [00:13:54] Speaker A: And as you went through this street, it's a small little place that is like kind of like halfway between like up a hill, one of those very steep ones in San Francisco. And like you got the right address. There's nothing labeling it on the outside except for maybe like an open sign like pinned to the door. And as you go in, you see that there is like some neon lights Going on that shows like neon like versions of some of the card suits, like the pentacles, the cup, the chalice, which is the cup, but some people use other ones. And you see it's almost kind of like an oddity shop. You see stuffed animals, stuff like a black cat, an owl, other stuff like that. On one shelf, strange like files filled with different colored powders. Some are decorative, some aren't, but they're all kept behind a glass case. And you see on one side there is a person standing behind the counter. Their back is turned to you as they're kind of like like hunched over a computer laptop on the other side of the room. And when they do hear you walk in, you turn around and it's hard to exactly see their face. They're wearing like these very big glasses that are kind of reflecting the life off of it. But they have a warm voice and say, oh, I, I know I'm 24 hours but I didn't expect anyone to come in this late. How, how may I help you? [00:15:39] Speaker B: Yeah, I. Bit of a night owl looking for a reading advice I guess. [00:15:50] Speaker A: Well, you've definitely come to the right place. Please, please. And let me, let me just. And they're going to go actually to that cabinet that has all the vials and open up the bottom drawer and like a fold out table like slides out from under it and they're gonna like fold it out, set it up and kind of like from a different cabinet, pull off like a nice looking cloth, like does a thing where there's stuff on top of it, but pulls it out from under it so fast nothing happens and sets it down and it's like, yeah, let me, let me just grab a chair for me, please take a seat. And we could get this started if you'd like. [00:16:38] Speaker B: Yeah, that would be, be nice. [00:16:43] Speaker A: They're going to grab a seat, they're going to come down themselves and put a deck on the table next to them and look at you again, hard to see their like distinct details, but you could definitely feel something kind of like looking through you as they ask. Is there anything specific you wanted a reading on love, like you know, work. [00:17:15] Speaker B: Business, I guess you could call it work. Yeah. [00:17:21] Speaker A: Okay. Okay. Is there anything bothering you recently? [00:17:26] Speaker B: I. The best way to put it is I started a new job and kind of took over for somebody who'd been there for a while. So it's new environment and trying to prove myself when everybody is kind of just waiting for me to fail. [00:17:48] Speaker A: I understand. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, well you kind of Give the deck a couple more shuffles and they're gonna place down three cards in front of you. The deck is gonna fall over too, and they're gonna take a second to readjust it in character. Three cards in front of you and they start saying, this is kind of. The reading takes many different views. There's like the past, present and future. When doing something about a specific problem, I like to look at the source of your problems. Something that's affecting it and something that is affecting you that you're unaware of. They say, pointing to each cards in a row, just, you know, I don't necessarily have the answers to this, but I could just be your guide. So if you're ready, I could start flip this over. You sure you're ready? [00:18:59] Speaker B: As ready as I'll ever be. [00:19:01] Speaker A: Okay, well, they're gonna flip over the first card and they are going to flip a reversed knight of Cups. So it looks like maybe something that usually this means that your baby being temperamental or introverted, are over emotional. But when it's reversed like this, that usually means that all those feelings are coming either from the outside or these are something that maybe we should be working towards. [00:19:51] Speaker B: Okay. [00:19:54] Speaker A: Yeah, Right. And something along those lines. I mean, it does sound like you have people taking you on for stuff. Right. [00:20:02] Speaker B: So have no idea. [00:20:03] Speaker A: It's kind of fitting. [00:20:05] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:06] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Well, let's. Let's see what else is affecting it. Well, they're going to turn over the queen of wands, but also reversed. Okay, this is a little interesting. So this one, again, because it's reversed, the idea is going to be a little like inverted, but it's usually energy, self assurance, being cheerful and energetic and putting your whole heart into it. But being reversed, it seems that maybe all of that is lacking or something is taking that away from you. [00:21:02] Speaker B: Yeah. It's been. Been hard to find joy in things lately and a lot happened recently and it kind of left me reeling. Says as she plays with the. The. A couple of the pins on the jacket, I lost someone close to me. And yeah, it. I guess I really. How do you let go of someone like that? [00:21:43] Speaker A: It's hard, you know, when someone so integral to your life, it suddenly they're gone. All that energy that was helping you work towards something is just disappearing. [00:21:56] Speaker B: Yeah, I didn't know him for long, but it was, you know, things they write about in books. Now that sounds silly, but it felt like that. [00:22:15] Speaker A: No, no, I totally understand. I think. You know, I read in a book once that going for walks is great. Have you tried, like. Especially during, like, the nice, like, fall days here, like, in the park. Have you tried that? [00:22:31] Speaker B: I. I did used to enjoy, you know, the afternoon walks. I just. It's hard to fit them in my schedule lately. [00:22:43] Speaker A: New job. Yeah, I understand. Well, let's see what this last card is. Something that you may have not realized yet, and they're going to flip over again. The reverse knight of coins. So the knight of coins, they usually mean that something is stubborn, obsessive, pessimistic, grinding something of that nature that you do not realize is affecting all of this. [00:23:25] Speaker B: Yeah, that could. Could be. Yeah. There was a. Everything kind of got thrown into turmoil for a while, and it was, you know, those times where it's just. All you're really thinking about is surviving and, you know, seeing the next day is kind of all you think about and. And then suddenly it ends. And how do you get out of that mode of wondering if each day is going to be your last and then being handed this new job and essentially being put straight to work. No time to process anything. I had. Had always had a bad habit of throwing myself into work when things get stressful. And that is one of the many things that runs in my family. [00:24:53] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, all of this kind, it kind of makes sense, especially coming into the same, you know, courtly cards. And again, like, I don't, you know, I don't quite know you, and I can't exactly tell you what's going on, but there's something. If you could find a way to get rid of whatever force is really just squashing you, maybe you'll be able to get more joy from what you're doing, more confidence, maybe go up a ladder. I'm. If that's something you want. Business is kind of like, you know, I run a tarot shop with two. I know about big, big hot shots. Right. [00:25:44] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah, It's. There's. There's a lot. And honestly, I kind of wish I could just give it all up and go back to how it was. I have a lot riding on me. [00:26:15] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, yeah. Well, one thing. If you give it all up, you're getting whatever. This force is exactly what they want. [00:26:27] Speaker B: Yeah. They would love to see me fail. [00:26:32] Speaker A: Yeah. And don't fail. You know what? I. Someone came in the other day and they said, gatekeep, girl, boss. I forget the last one, but I think those two are important sometimes. [00:26:49] Speaker B: Yeah. I believe the last one is Gaslight. And, yeah, I'm familiar with it. [00:26:55] Speaker A: Right. Yeah. Like, they came in for a Bad relationship. The person. The person ate all their jello cups. Could you believe that. [00:27:05] Speaker B: G? I can. When you say it, yes. [00:27:15] Speaker A: I know this may not be the answer you're looking for, but I hope it does help. Is there anything deeper you were looking for or any other thing I could help you with? [00:27:28] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, it's. It's just. It's a start. It's just, you know, there's all sorts of questions going around. I'm. You know, I don't know. Well, if you could give me advice on who to even trust. [00:27:52] Speaker A: It's hard to say. If you'd like, I could try asking the card one more question. [00:27:59] Speaker B: Sure. Yeah, I'll. I'll definitely take that. Anything. [00:28:07] Speaker A: Well, we'll just treat this as its own question. So looking into who you could trust. So it looks like the card I got is the world. It is reversed as well. So usually that would mean those who helped you get fulfillment, get accomplishment of you integrate into whatever you're doing. But because it's reversed, maybe. Maybe keep those at arm length. So as far as who to trust, I think it's something that you may already have an answer for. [00:29:05] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. I was. The thought I'd been having. It checks out. [00:29:25] Speaker A: Well here. And they're going to hand you the Knight of Cups. And they're like. They're gonna make sure when they hand it to you, they're gonna make sure they flip it back over so it's facing up. Right. Hold on to this. When you're thinking about what you're trying to work towards, keep it on you. [00:29:54] Speaker B: Yeah. Gently reach out and take it and kind of flip it over. Letting my fingers run over the. The art before sliding it into the pocket of the leather jacket. [00:30:09] Speaker A: No. Sometimes a step forward is all you need. Right. [00:30:15] Speaker B: Yeah. Gotta know where to start. And found once you start something, everything else will kind of fall into place. [00:30:27] Speaker A: Sounds great. Well, I think. I think I should let you go. [00:30:35] Speaker B: Yeah, I think I have a. A lot to think about. Yeah. [00:30:40] Speaker A: And they're going to start packing up the cards and all this and they're going to look at a clock on the wall and just, you know, I think I'm going to close up shop and grab something to eat. You want anything? [00:30:53] Speaker B: I'm good. [00:30:54] Speaker A: Great. Great. Ramen place down the street. [00:30:57] Speaker B: Oh, Roman. Sounds amazing, but I should probably go. [00:31:05] Speaker A: Oh, okay. They're going to pack everything up and kind of like lead you out the shop. And they. You both go different directions as your way out. And when you turn around, it's not necessarily a busy street. It's like three in the morning, but you have no sight of this person. It's like they just kind of vanished into do mist. [00:31:34] Speaker B: I've spent enough time around other vampires. I. You know, people disappearing quickly is not a new thing for me. But you know, we'll just continue on to where the very familiar black SUV with my ghoul is waiting and got a lot to think about and a lot to figure out over these next bunch of nights. [00:32:08] Speaker A: I think we'll leave Rowan there. Hello again. [00:32:12] Speaker B: Hello. [00:32:15] Speaker A: Okay. The cards really want Rowan to be sad. [00:32:20] Speaker B: I think honestly that it checks out so much with her. Her actual story. Yeah. [00:32:32] Speaker A: But yeah. So going back into this Aubry. What. What did you. How do you think the readings were for rowing? Is it necessarily helpful? Do you think it would be over on her current journey? [00:32:48] Speaker B: Yeah, I do think there's the whole. You know, she is running the entire domain. She shouldn't trust anyone. And because they all do want to see her fail, she kind of only is prince because she killed the last one. And you know, she. In. In the world of vampire the Masquerade, she diablerized him. She ate him. He no longer exists other than a voice in her head sometimes. So she. That is also a big no, no, you should not do that. That is bad. And if it were to get out, she would probably find herself as losing her position very quickly. But so there is a lot that she needs to keep close to the chest and not let out. And so being alone for a while is what she needs. Then she will go with it because she is determined not to fail because everyone thinks she will. [00:34:10] Speaker A: You know, I think someone being in that position that unfortunately may be the grinds that you need to attribute to. Right. [00:34:18] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:34:19] Speaker A: Well, I was. I was going to ask if like if there was this would be any actionable, but kind of seems like she's going to be working towards this regardless, right. [00:34:28] Speaker B: Yeah, she be working towards this regardless. And I'm. I'm not currently playing her anything. This was how she was left at the end of a chronicle. But there is a chance she may reappear in a later chronicle with the same group. So I'm always constantly thinking about like what she's working on, what she's doing, what she's working towards. [00:34:50] Speaker A: Yeah. Did any of these cards surprise you? Especially maybe that extra one we did at the end or was it kind of on par? [00:35:01] Speaker B: The world was very on par. The one that. The one that did surprise was the. The Knight Of Cups, Knight of Cup, Knight of Pentacles. Yeah, that one was a. That one was that. But, you know, looking at it as well on a thing, and one of the things you also mean is like, work without reward. And I'm like, oh, that, that, you know, being a prince of a domain is very much at times work without a reward, keeping everyone's safe. Obsessiveness. Yeah, that. That really tracks. It was a surprising card. But, like, looking at it in the whole picture, it tracks very well. [00:35:39] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, I. I did think, Robin, going towards that, just like asking about who they should trust as well, towards the end, my understanding feels about. Right. Especially just going towards, like, what we spoke about before this actually before the reading. [00:36:00] Speaker B: So, yeah, at the end of the Chronicle, there was only one person of her coterie left. They are currently working as her seneschal, sort of her right hand. But yet again, they have their own secrets and everything that they're keeping, so you can only trust them to. To. To a degree. And then everyone else is either dead or left the domain at the end, so. [00:36:30] Speaker A: Well, I do hope for better things for Rowan. They. They sound like they started this as just a little guy. And then problems kept happening. And problems kept happening. [00:36:42] Speaker B: Yeah, well, doomed by the narrative. [00:36:47] Speaker A: True. Well, I think maybe we'll leave Rowan's story there for now and just so people can remember. Aubrey, where can people find you? [00:36:58] Speaker B: Yeah, you can find me everywhere on the Internet at either Mad Queen Cosplay or the Mad Queen, depending on the website. You find me as the GM for a lot of stuff on G and G and the technical director over at Queen's Court Games. [00:37:17] Speaker A: Beautiful. Well, that will be it for now. I have been your guide and remember, guidance will find you whether you like it or not. [00:37:27] Speaker B: It's true. [00:37:30] Speaker A: Goblin Gaze presents Interrogation.
